I’ve been interested in skincare skin I was 11 or 12 when my mother first noticed I was starting to get a little bit of acne. She wanted to act fast and prevent my skin from developing a serious problem, so she booked me an appointment with one of our city’s top dermatologists. The transformation I saw in my skin was so dramatic and powerful, that at that tender young age, the experience forever changed the way I saw skincare.
Now that I’m a mom myself, I want to know exactly what my family is putting on their skin. And I don’t want skincare medications that really could be simplified or aren’t even necessary. This is what led me to create my own skincare line around goat milk and the most gentle oils and masks and creams you can find. Staying close to nature and natural remedies, while using the best of what science has found to get great results.
There are a plethora of different anti-aging face serums that are out there… face oil, while it seems counterintuitive to acne prone skin, has proven it’s worth in the last 5-7 years in it’s ability to get your face to produce less oil. I personally know a lot of moms love to skip the dermatologist and just use something as simple as Coconut oil.
But let’s admit it, Coconut oil is not going to do much for your skin after age 25. It has 0% Vitamin C which clinically brightens skin and boosts collagen production, and 0% Vitamin A which is retinol or retinoic acid.
As your skin ages, in order to keep it looking youthful and radiant, you need a face oil that is serious about vitamins, hydration and moisturization.
A lot of moms also are tempted to just use Olive oil, because of how rich it is in fatty acids. But aside from the fact that Olive oil is also missing some key vitamins, it usually will often feel way too greasy for daily use.
Our face serum and line of deliciously scented Body Oils all have the same basic formulation – we are big on hydrating your skin AND moisturizing it, yet we prioritize that silky, expensive feel of an oil that glides effortlessly across and into yours skin so that while you’re left with a subtle glow, you aren’t greased and ready to bake in the oven.
We wanted an oil that felt ultra-lightweight, and we achieved it!
I am positively addicted to using our Éternité Élixir ($48). That combination of hydrating yet moisturizing means my face has never been smoother! And because our products are so gentle, it’s even safe for my 7 year old daughter to use on her face daily.
A few months after creating this amazing oil that seemed to solve all my skin issues, I decided to combine all our best selling skincare products into one set – and we developed our Trinity Set ($89) – which has our lactic acid goat milk soap Pure Bar ($11), our Bakuchiol Bejeweled cream ($38) and the Vitamin C Eternite Elixir face serum ($48) everyday.
What does Squalane really do?
Squalane is the plant-based sister of a naturally occurring oil often sourced from sharks called Squalene with an “e” (eww and sad right? So glad our’s is from olives!). Once we added it to our oil, the miracle of having something so soft and hydrating was felt immediately – the oil just isn’t the same without the addition of Squalane.
And that’s because most oils do not actually hydrate your skin. No. They moisturize, but generally don’t hydrate like Squalane does.
In other words, if you consistently use a face serum without that hydrating component, it will lead to dry skin overtime. This is why some women have stopped using face oils and think it’s a scam, their skin ended up needing more and more oil overtime because it kept getting dehydrated by the oil use.
Rest assured, our Éternité Élixir is more sophisticated than that.
Squalane hydrates your skin by drawing water into it, even from the atmosphere. But no face serum is complete (in our opinion!) without a moisturizer that locks that water in and keeps it from evaporating.
Kukui nut oil – the Healing Oil
Kukui nut oil was used for centuries by Hawaiian natives to speed up wound healing due to the high concentration of Vitamin A — you can see why Coconut oil or basic Olive oil, while they may feel good on your skin, just can’t compare or compete with an oil that does so much anti-aging work for you on it’s own.
